Housing

Having a place to live is literally the foundation of a healthy and happy life. No one should ever be homeless. A decade of work in the making, Epione features the Lighthouse model of affordable housing that is built on our fundamental tenets: create the highest quality product at the lowest cost, remove every ounce of waste, lower every barrier to entry, provide education and assistance as needed, require accountability, and connect people to their community. Epione accomplishes these goals using community land trusts, ROK-ON™ construction systems, and access to homeownership toolkits.

Homelessness is on the Rise

U.S. homelessness set new records in 2023, with "the highest number of people reported experiencing homelessness on a single night since reporting began in 2007". While there are a variety of factors that effect homelessness, well-made and affordable housing is one of the more straighforward and attainable pieces to solve in a complex societal problem.

“ Between 2022 and 2023, the total number of people experiencing homelessness increased by 70,642 people (or 12%). The overall increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness between 2022 and 2023 refects both a sharp increase in the number of people experiencing sheltered homelessness, which increased by 47,864 people (or 14%), and increases in the number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, which increased by 22,778 people (or 10%) over the last year. “

Epione combines community land trusts (CLT), innovative build systems, home owner education, and community stewardship into a functional package.
